This is a view from the most romantic promenade in Zagreb. We call it Strossmayerovo šetalište. This is my entry for Weekly Photo Challenge: Rule of Thirds.
It would be my favorite promenade, for sure! Beautiful view! But the best in this picture are the clouds – they make the whole image alive and breathing.
Amazing how this composition rule can make such a difference. If we all stop for a moment and keep this in mind before we shoot we could have some great shots like this.
Looking at the entries so far, the whole world understands this one, Paula! 🙂 Love the music you’ve chosen to accompany it! How are you this evening? Still not well I’m thinking. 😦
“That town reminds me of something.. three houses on the square and flags.. the old longing is waking up…” – feeble attempt at translation just for you 😉 So, you are developing a taste for Croatian music – glad to hear it!
The place above the city where clouds meet the old lantern… A special spot to be at and experience, Paula! I like the touch of the red roofs and…the drama of clouds, of course! 🙂
Josip Juraj Strossmayer ( 4 February 1815 – 8 May 1905) was a Croatian politician, Roman Catholic bishop and benefactor 🙂 We have a lot of streets, squares and even promenades bearing his name. Thank you, Allan!

You’ve done it again, Mme Moody and Mistress of Clouds. The lamp post is perfectly placed, and so is the city in the bottom third.

wonderful take on the theme – and the orange-y roof tops were my favorite – they pull you right in and around the shot. 🙂

I take it that Strossmayer is the name of a family or a specific area of Zagreb or both?
