Guest Photo Challenge: Renewal by Michelle Lunato

Friendly blogger and talented photographer that goes by the name Michelle Lunato and blogs at michellelunatophotography and chasinglifeandfindingdreams did me an honour of accepting to host a photo challenge in black and white on Lost in Translation. Eager to grasp all good things that life has to offer and with a talent to live in the moment knowing that life is just a cycle of rebirths, Michele came up with the theme “renewal”.

Here is how Michelle describes herself:

Nato

The circle of life is more than a song from the Disney movie The Lion King. It is a fact of life that surrounds nearly everything.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, renewal is the act of making something new, fresh or strong. To me, this can range from spring flowers blooming to falling in love with someone to the dawning of a new day. It is how the Earth and the human race continue generation after generation. People and animals die off while others are born. Autumn creates decay to fertilize for spring. Every day, people across the globe start a fresh with a new plan or goal to achieve. This constant cycle of rebirth perpetuates everything from nature to the human spirit.
Your challenge is to look around your life and think about renewal. Where would the Earth be without it? Where would religion be without it? Where would art be without it? And…where would you be without it?
For an added challenge, chose only black and white pictures to tell your story. Use the monochromatic power to focus on the elements in the photos. For an added twist, write about what you feel or add a quote or poem. (Or, just let your pictures tell the story.) Just go with where your feelings lead you.
For me personally, I have seen many facets of renewal lately. Below are a few of the images I’ve captured. I hope you enjoy them, and they inspire you to see the renewal around you.

The chance for a new day: sunrise.

Day (1)

“Things are always better in the morning.”
~Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird~

The creation of life: a precious baby.

Life

“A baby is God’s opinion that the world should go on.”
~Carl Sandburg~

The rejuvenation of the human soul: religion.

Soul

“Keeping the Sabbath day holy is much more than just physical rest. It involves spiritual renewal and worship.”
~James E. Faust~

The growth of connection: love.

love

“Hate destroys, Love builds.
Hate tears down, Love renews and creates.
Hatred holds no hope for the future.
Love creates Today as its own better future.”
~Jonathan Lockwood Huie~

The rebirth of nature: spring.

Nature

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
~F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby~

The blossoming of daily beauty: flowers.

Beauty

“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.”
~Jawaharlal Nehru~

Good luck on finding your renewal.

“Renewal requires opening yourself up to new ways of thinking and feeling”
~Deborah Day, BE HAPPY NOW!”

Take care,

Nato

    • Thanks Cardinal! I would have answered sooner, but I ran off to the beach to visit with my daughter for a few days. I had to renew my sad pale skin and give out mommy hugs.

  7. I like how you covered the many facets of “renewal” – each day, each season in Nature, a baby renewing our faith in humanity as well as renewing the bloodline to continue living thru our descendants, finding renewal in our spirituality.

    • Sorry for the delayed response. I had military duty and was not checking here for more comments. Thank you so much. Yes, there are so many forms of renewal each day. Thank God too. If we didn’t have all these ways to see and feel rejuvenated, where would the world be today?
