From the left bank of the Tagus River, a magnificent, red-painted, steel suspension structure crosses the bay and takes you straight onto shores of Lisbon. All you need to do is follow its shadow.

Weekly photo challenge now appears on Wednesdays, but I will continue to post for it on Fridays. The theme this week is Shadow. Our blogger friend Restless Jo likes walks but she also likes bridges, and I am sure she crossed this one before. Please, join her for her latest walk in the south of Portugal.
It’s a photograph for wanderers the world over! Looking at it, who doesn’t want to cross that bridge? It’s superb, Paula! The clarity of that shadow- I really love it. Thank you so much for thinking of me. I opened my Reader, unsuspecting, to your lovely image. Yes, I have crossed this bridge but it was not a happy occasion. One day I’ll go back 🙂 🙂 Wishing you a peaceful weekend, hon, with as much rest as you can manage. And thank you! 🙂
On the left bank of the Tagus river, opposite of Lisbon there is a sculpture (huge) similar to the sculpture in Rio of Christ. That’s where I took it from. Thank you very much, Marilyn. It is nice to know that you like it.
I’m doing well but as is usual my problem is work consumes too much time leaving little time or energy for what I really love to do. When I do have time I make sure to go to your blog! Have a great day

I always think huge bridges like this are such a marvel of engineering.

They are! And maintenance is tricky too. Recently I saw people working there change light bulbs. What a thrilling and risky job 🙂

Thank YOU, Jo. There will be happier days for visit I am sure. It took me decades to visit Lisbon where my dad passed away.

As if the bridge itself wasn’t incredible the shadow makes it superb. Wonderful capture of one of our favorite cities in the world.

A lovely view and a great shadow – the bridge looks very similar to the Golden Gate bridge.
