THURSDAY’S SPECIAL: PICK A WORD IN MARCH – Y2

For the Pick a Word challenge in March I chose five unrelated words and five unrelated images.  As usual you are free to choose one of the 5 offered words, and depict it in a photograph or you can do more than one word and post more than one photograph, or you may choose all of the words and depict them in a single image. Possibilities abound. Now, here are the words to choose from:

commanding

coarse

gibbous

incremental

indelible

tomislav-crop-1-_potpis_scale

commanding

texture-bark-1crop_potpis_scale

coarse

deva

gibbous

bromelia-boja-1-2-_potpis_scale

incremental

paris_rue

indelible (as in indelible memories)

A few words about images:

#1 is special because it is the first shot I took with a DSLR and cause it is a statue of the first Croatian King (Kralj Tomislav)

#2 is not special at all; it is a bark of a tree – I like its coarseness and abstract quality.

#3 I wanted to use the word “gibbous”. As for the subject – it is just a resident of a local Zoo.

#4 is special. It is a focus stacked image I made a few years ago. Bromelia is a tiny pot plant that looks so much more delicate in person than in this shot.

#5 – the most special one of all, cause it is from my first visit to Paris, and cause I  made passers-by almost delible while the skyline is indelible.

*Music in this post is fabulous, don’t miss it. It is by Pascal Comelade – Promenade des schizophrènes

This is my choice of words for this month, but you only have a week to respond. Next Thursday the challenge will be Traces of the Past. For updates please consult UPDATES page.

Hope you will all have a good month!

  1. Beautiful shot of Paris. When I first read the list, I thought it said inedible instead of indelible and I was wondering if I had any pictures of bad food. 🙂

  2. Love the Parisian scene. Classic.
Have you watched the Movie Midnight in Paris, with Owen Wilson? I have a feeling you will love it if you haven’t already seen it.

Nice one, Paula …. hold the bus … I’ll be with you shortly. 😉

  3. A great selection of words this week Paula. Gibbous is calling to me but I’ve no idea what would go with it. We will see!

Great shots too – I adore the Paris one. A great capture of the iconic tower, but in a personal way – a tough thing to do with something so well known. Excellent!

I’ll listen to the music later.

      • I clicked and loved the music!
I gave up on gibbous in the end and went indelible. Like Marie, it kept changing into inedible in my head so food it had to be!
So edible that my mouth was probably gibbous as I gobbled it down – but thankfully, there are no photos of that!
(and don’t look too hard at the quality of the photos – they were done with iPhone and I think I could have tried harder…)

        • Debbie, I never take photos of my food, cause my hands are shaking in anticipation, so don’t worry about quality. I find them perfectly alright 😀

  5. You’ve done us proud this week; a feast of images, words and music. That first shot has to be the most commanding statue that I’ve ever seen. And the Parisian scene is indeed indelible. And as for the interpretations of gibbous and incremental: amusingly ingenious 🙂

You chose this time very abstract words, that’s quite a challenge… 😉
Very ingenious and original, I really appreciate this challenge.
Thanks, and have a nice day! 🙂

  14. I had the feeling that you were away soon, Paula, and didn’t get chance to look for your TS till now. The Wifi at our hotel was indifferent but that was my only complaint from the 3 days (unless you count aching legs 🙂 ) I don’t know how you achieved indelible but incredible would do equally well as a description. 🙂 🙂 Sending a belated Thursday hug.

  19. Ahh thanks for linking me Paula, you beat me to it again. I can understand why indelible is the most popular, yours is very evocative. I had to check the meaning of gibbous, but I might be back with another. Have a good week honey 🙂
