BLACK & WHITE SUNDAY: AFTER AND BEFORE Y1-07
Regular visitors to my blog know that once a month on a Sunday I post a combined photo challenge theme for Black&White Sunday. It is called AFTER and BEFORE and it invites you to post the same image both in black and white and in colour. The topic and subject are entirely arbitrary. The only condition is that you post an image captured in colour and that you turn it monochrome in post processing. I enjoy this little exercise which permits me to see the same scene through colour and without it, and I hope that you will enjoy doing the same.

Love both of these. The monochrome brings the bridge more into prominence for me where the color version takes my eyes to the beautiful green landscape! And that soft music is so relaxing! Have a wonderful weekend!

Interesting mood study. B&W screams bridge and with color the bridge is a path to the green.

I prefer the black and white shot. I found it interesting how the mottled green of the railing is not all that different to the wooded green behind and in the black and white it creates a stark contrast. Not sure as to why, but I prefer the b&w image. Both images suggest to me that crossing this bridge would be accompanied with “a bit” of anxiety.

B&W is definitely the best option here. The colours doesn’t really add anything of interest to the photo. Nice work on the post-processing.

Both versions are wonderful in different ways. The monochrome has a mysterious, Durer-esque quality. The colour version reminds me of the hand-coloured plates you find in nineteenth century travel books.
