For me it is a possibility of self-expression, to share and interact with others.
About me?
It is impossible to sum up one’s life (and thus mine too) in a few sentences ….and as I am still a work in progress this blog will hopefully help me sort out my thoughts and ideas and bring out the inner workings of my mind. The posts here are not very organised nor do they stick to a specific subject or idea. They come randomly following momentary inspiration.
What is the one thing that keeps me going?
Curiosity about how it will all end, a disgust for giving up on life.
What makes me tick?
Learning, meeting new folks, finding out that we are not alone. Well, maybe there are still things I am about to discover …. each day is a new possibility.
What are my interests and specialties?
Languages and music, sounds in general, the fact is that sounds are very distracting to me.
Images (either still or moving) – images evoke feelings, memories and incite imagination. Today’s technology makes it simple for us to take pictures, to grab images and store them for later enjoyment and remembering.
A life traveler, a soul explorer, a thinker and a linguist with a lot to learn still I will be happy to meet anyone with a kind heart and an open mind.
UPDATE: My about page was written in 2012 when I started my blog. Since then I changed several themes, and improved my photography, but I remained faithful to my original message which is the idea of interacting with genuine and kind-hearted people. For years now I have been running several photo challenges and expressing my ideas through images which are all taken by me with accompanying music mostly found on you tube.
Hello Michael. First you can see my header pic which is a photo of the island San Giulio on Lago d’Orta, then if you click on Travel you can see some more pics of spots in Nothern Italy 🙂
Your journey through life seems to be filled with rewarding moments already. Keep it up…and you’ll hit the lottery (whatever that is for you) for sure! 😉
You too Anne. I admire your sense of balance 🙂 I am too much of a hedonist to achieve that any time soon and I should. I’ve checked out that three greens smoothie you are featuring. I tried something like that a few years ago. These days I prefer bacon and eggs 😀 Well, next week I will live more like you I promise 🙂
There are good days and there are not so good days. I had 3 amazing ones… today I realize that everything comes to bite you in the end.
I am doing fine, but I am a bit depressed mainly because I did not sleep so well and well the usual.
I had to write something, post anything maybe proof-of-existence for myself. 😉
I blog to discover that part of myself that I may be aware of or was there but long forgotten. It’s a great way to explore our thoughts and express them. It also an amazing way to connect with others. You have a generous heart and a very creative mind. Thanks for sharing..have a great day!
Hi Paula! You have a wonderful blog here! I love it. I’m so glad I found it 🙂
I’m gonna follow you and look forward to reading/seeing more of your stuff 🙂
I’m glad to have discovered you. We share some of the same thoughts and ideas I think. You will be a pleasure to follow. I have already enjoyed some of your delightful and insightful posts. I look forward to reading more.
Nice to meet you Ms. Paula! Like you, I enjoy traveling and meeting new people. I think we are all different and yet can carry similar interests. I may not get a chance to travel everywhere and meet everyone but your blog can help me know someone in Croatia (right?) and see another part of our big world. Keep up your great work in your blog!
😀 Thank you Anne 🙂 I am off packing for a short trip, but I will look you up on Saturday. Thank you for the follow 🙂 It feels good knowing you are liked. x
Merci Marie-Charlotte.
Ca me plait beaucoup 🙂
Hi there I just stumbled across your blog and liked it alot. I’m on a similar personal journey (hence the blog!) Thanks for posting and drop by sometime. Peace. x
Hi Paula! Just letting you know that you are my top commenter! (30 comments, go girl!) So as a thank you, i am putting your face (and link) on my home page for everyone to see! I chose to put this picture in your about page, in case you don’t like that let me know, and suggest another picture if you like! 🙂
😀 I have always been very chatty and a very fast typer, but still 😀 the good thing is that I am really not into site stats, as it is flimsy thing anyway, and when I comment I do it cause I feel it and for fun. Nobody can make me comment on someone’s page if I hate it. Well, sometimes I do leave pity comments on some blogs, when I see that nobody gives them a flying fu*k…. It just breaks my heart.
I truly enjoy getting to know people with the mind frame that you have, I really hope that I get to be able to see the growth of this blog as an extension of your own personal growth. 🙂
Nice Photography mam although I could not finish to see all the photos yet…. In a Word they were just awesome…. And I want to say some thing about your eyes,
“Just take a look through my eyes
There’s a better place
somewhere out there
Just take a look through my eyes
Everything changes
You’ll be amazed what you’ll find
If you look through my eyes”
Hi Ahmed 🙂 Are you saying you prefer photos of my eyes to the ones of other subjects I take? The header pic is a self-portrait, but usually most of photos of me are taken by other people. I want to share in this blog as many photos as I can that are taken by me 🙂
thank you for visiting my blog and for clarity regarding “saldage” . . . wondering if the misspelling invites a personalization? Curious about your statement regarding Enya.
Vuelve a vistarme pronto 🙂 x
Greetings from Australia Paula,
I love your quite about “meeting anyone with a kind heart and open mind”, very beautiful words indeed. I’d love to visit your beautiful country, experience the culture and photograph the stunning Adriatic coast with its picturesque beaches and villages.

This means a lot Konstantine… Thank you. I have just stopped by your blog to see your name and your photos really impressed me .. I will comment on them over there 🙂 If you are interested in seeing the very few pictures I have of our coast and picturesque villages, I will be happy to point you to the links ;). My best to you 🙂
That can be annoying :S. Thank you Jackie. Please forgive me if I don’t pay you visit as much as I would like to … my life needs some sorting out right now.

Thank you so much for a sweet compliment, Marion. I am looking at your blog now; it will take me some time to figure it out as I don’t speak any German :). You have lovely flowers over there 🙂
I supposed, that you don’t speak German. That’s life… 😉 So don’t worry, it’s not bad. Nobody is able to manage all. There are enough English blogs, you can read.
Because of my readers understand German, till now, I translated none of my texts.
We will speak with one another in English, when we want to.
I can try to learn :). I wasn’t very motivated in the past, and it is a shame I must say. Thank you for your lovely visit Marion and for sharing bits and pieces from your life. Have a good rest. P.
Learning Germany as a foreign language is very difficult, I know! My neighbours are Turks and in the spring time, I have tried to learn German with the wife. She hopes to understand Swiss German better, when she understands German at first. But after a week, she gives up.
You are not she, but if I wouldn’t be born in Germany, I don’t want to learn the German language! 😉
Thank you for your friendly answers. Till then… 🙂
You are a good neighbour :). I said it is a shame as I am a translator and speak and use 5 other languages, but I have to be honest in saying that German never appealed to me, but whenever I am in Austria I feel that I should learn at the least the basics. They are such friendly people.
The neighbour pays for the language lessons ;), so it was a good deal to me (I had no job till June 2013) and there were no jobless gratifications.
You are a translator? What languages do you use?
Germans and Austrians in common don’t like each other so much, but I know Austrians, which are my friends. For me, it isn’t the birth place of a person, it is his or her personality, I like or don’t like.
Of course any kind of generalisation is a dangerous thing, but in general Austrians are very hospitable and open people :). I studied English and French and I work with those two languages – well mostly doing English-Croatian-English translations and when opportunity arises French too. I am more into Romance languages, they are easier for me. As for Germanic I wish I could learn some Danish – as I’ve heard and experienced the most difficult one of all and am studying Japanese now. I can use and speak Spanish and Portuguese and have a pretty good understanding of Italian.
Oh, that’s quite a lot of language knowledge! Chapeau! 🙂
I believe in you, when your experience with Austrians were so positive! That’s a wonderful thing.
Hey, I’m two weeks old to this blogging thing, Glad i wandered off here. Its really nice meeting you.
I enjoyed going through your blog.
Good luck, Have a nice day ! 🙂
Hi dear Paula, thank you for your kind comment and for follow me. As i said on my website, if you need some pictures to make new articles you are free to use mine. I have a creative common license instead of the general copyright license. have a good day!! Greetings from Rome. Moyan
Ciao Moyan 🙂 You are so very kind with your offer to use your pictures. I am very vain and I never use other people’s photos regardless of how good they are 😉 but you have given me a terrific idea – I am thinking of visiting Sibillini mountains some time soon 🙂 Spero che in Roma il tempo sta meglio che qui 🙂
thanks for it Paula! if you want to visit them, don’t miss castelluccio di norcia as well! it’s a famous place, with a beautiful landscape just close to them! i have a couple of pictures in my flickr gallery!
Wow, you are beautiful! I haven’t seen your photo on the about page. I meant to let you my birthday (didn’t want to announce it on my blog 🙂 ) March 20th, what’s yours… 🙂
Thanks, Paula!! That is so thoughtful. Many years ago, I decided to have a happy Day every day, rather than happy b-day. And, if I want something, I have very little patience to wait until b-day or Christmas 🙂
I am sorry sweetie, but I still did not get it – probably because I am working non-stop and my mind is overprocessing… am I allowed to mention your bday on your page on your date or better not?
If you like, that’s fine with me. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. If I don’t remember yours, please forgive me. I do treasure our blog friendship! TGIF 🙂
Hello, thank you for liking my post, Erie. You have a wonderful post and just beautiful images, keep it up and I will follow you through your wonderful experiences… Laz
H Paula, Thank you for your kind words and for following my photography blog. I hope you are inspired. I am enjoying looking around your terrific blog. Your images are wonderful and I look forward to more.
I will need you to check daily on me, mia cara. I managed to recollect myself. I will have some rough weeks to let go of some stuff, but I know I will get through it. I am just thankful for a friend like you. Buona sera Amy.
I am not doing anything a friend is supposed to do… I wish I could. But, you know I’m thinking about you. No matter what, take care of yourself, Paula.
You are same like me at least in NOT FOLLOWING PEOPLE THAT JUST LIKE AND GONE. so i am glad to see you. I was checking your daily prompt post today. It was good , and now your story , its beautiful. The song is awesome and i just want to wish you a very good future ahead , May Allah bless you and your love.ameen
Hmmm.. how many times? or how much time? or how long does it take to know somebody? Please, specify… I am a linguist and am easily confused 🙂 Puoi rispondere in italiano si no sei siguro…
At first I looked at your “Windows” and absolutely fell in love with those reflections and the mood… a photo one (me!) would happily return to and notice something new again… And then found myself on this page – you know how it usually happens….click after click…intentionally, of course! 🙂 Your words and the video..I will definitely stay on that wave of love, joy and positivity through my Friday evening.
Hi Paula, love your blog! Here is my link as you asked: http://sherrimatthewsblog.com/ It’s been great having your visits today, so glad that you came over and I look forward to your photos too. Great to meet you my new friend – Sherri 🙂
PS I coudn’t watch your video, it wouldn’t load properly but that’s my computer, having a few probs at the moment. Hope to come back and have another try when this is sorted out, sorry about that.
Thank you very much, Hilary. It is nice to meet someone that can relate to that. I will pay you a visit after my holiday. It is a mad house now. Take care, Paula
Hi Paula. Just another traveler passing through. Your blog came up in my “you may like” section, or the suggested blogs area of the reader at the right. I was instantly intrigued as I too love languages and travel and so I’ve been perusing here for the last half hour or so. I’m a middle aged worker bee who has trouble sleeping….so, once again I’m surfing the web in the wee hours of the morning (though the sun is now up so it’s no longer wee eh?) and I’m happy to find another fellow traveler. I’ll be back! going to try and get more sleep now….if my cats will let me 😉 Enjoy your day!! Nice to meet you.
I am tempted to say “get rid of the cats”, but I know it is not an option. What part of the world are you now Toby? I will be happy to follow you and find out more. Sleep tight 🙂
I’m in Minnesota, the upper midwest of the U.S. I fed the cats and I slept! Until my fat cat Eddie got hungry again and so I’m back now 🙂 Thanks for the follow! Looking forward to seeing/reading more of you.
There are some amazing people that you meet in blogging and some even become friends. So nice to meet you and I hope we can share many moments of inspiration whether quiet or rather zany!
Cheers
Hey there! Randomly tuned in to your blog and liked it so I gave you a follow. Come over and join the fun with me at http://www.thatssojacob.wordpress.com if you’d like to return the favor! Have a great day!
Hi there Paula,
Thanks for taking the time to stop by my little corner of the blogosphere and for the follow. Your support is greatly appreciated,,
Have a great day, 🙂
Eddie
Hi Paula, you make great pictures. Beautiful work! I’m sorry that i’m not much of a writer and do not comment enough on peoples work, but there are so many beautiful blogs that it is almost impossible to comment on al the pictures. But be sure that now and then…you here from me. Greatings and keep up the good work. Geert
Hey….hi….I am new to blogging..
Was going through random posts and came across your blog..!!!
Nice meeting you..Will go through your posts..
Till then keep in touch 🙂
Thank you for sharing your video; it is very heart-warming. You might want to check out post on “Christmas In The 50s.” Please have a very blessed day in our Lord Jesus.
Yes, like you many of us are sharing the same hobby & passion, so, you seems one of the us and it gives me immense pleasure to introduce our self through our respective blog!
Keep it up!
Hello Paula-
Thank you for stopping by my blog and giving it a “follow.” I hope you will enjoy my nature-related posts. I’m also trying my hand at hosting a weekly challenge and invite you to take a look and participate as topics interest you-https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_event/unless-earth-friendly-friday/
I like the words you say about yourself, especially the ones on the upper right corner..
an energy filled with curiosity and empathy for the breath of life I think,
I think we all want to meet kind hearts and open minds…
we are drawn by the similarities and the diversities help us grow within this journey in this moment of time
bring us an awareness we are both student and teachers of life 🙂
Maryrose, thank you so much for having checked out my “about” page. Bloggers often skip it and I think it should be the most significant part of our blogs. Thank you for your kind words. Will keep in touch.
I love that your inspiration dictates your posts and you’re not locked into a specific mindset. I look forward to hearing and seeing more of what inspires you.
Hello Tobias 🙂 I am really happy to read you. I’m planning to get back to blogging in December. If you are still interested in doing your guest challenge post, I’ll be happy to have you on my blog any time next year. 🙂
Good to hear you’ll be “back on the block” – and of course I am still up to the guest challenge. Just let me know when you have me scheduled and I will review my draft and send you everything you need. Best, T.
You have a lovely blog. I just started my blog months ago, and you’re right.. why does one start a blog? its for a possibility of self-expression, to share and interact with others.
your about me is so striking to mine that I thought maybe I am reading my own… It’s like meeting someone who thinks somehow like I do… 🙂 Great to have come to your blog… Your pictures are wonderful and I specially like the black and white one with face in it on your sidebar… keep it up 🙂
What a wonderful blog you have. I’m so happy to have found you, quite by accident while checking out an Urban Art entry. Beautiful photos and I look forward to exploring much more of your site. Cheers and warmest wishes from an ordinary woman in Melbourne trying to live an extraordinary life through travel, photography and a general love of life.
I appreciate it Tobias, and I am very flattered that you were the first to notice the change. I have always loved this theme, but chose others for the communication and interaction purposes. However, the time has come when I decided that my life of photography comes first and interaction with strangers second 😉 Thank you 🙂
Thank you. You are very welcome to join them any week you feel like. They usually happen twice a week and I announce them in Scheduled challenges a few days in advance.
The music Paula is fantastic! As for sounds…I “see” better with them, they begin as distractions and then paint pictures… I look forward to responding to today’s challenge.
It seems like you have a lot of interests and are passionate about learning and self-expression through your blog. It’s great that you have found a way to share your thoughts and ideas with others, and that you enjoy meeting new people and finding common ground. Your love of languages, music, and images is certainly unique and adds depth to your blog. It’s also admirable that you have a positive attitude towards life and a desire to keep learning and growing. Keep sharing your passions and experiences with the world!
ciao! where would I find your Italy posts? 🙂

LikeLike
The neighbour pays for the language lessons ;), so it was a good deal to me (I had no job till June 2013) and there were no jobless gratifications.
You are a translator? What languages do you use?
Germans and Austrians in common don’t like each other so much, but I know Austrians, which are my friends. For me, it isn’t the birth place of a person, it is his or her personality, I like or don’t like.
LikeLike
Of course any kind of generalisation is a dangerous thing, but in general Austrians are very hospitable and open people :). I studied English and French and I work with those two languages – well mostly doing English-Croatian-English translations and when opportunity arises French too. I am more into Romance languages, they are easier for me. As for Germanic I wish I could learn some Danish – as I’ve heard and experienced the most difficult one of all and am studying Japanese now. I can use and speak Spanish and Portuguese and have a pretty good understanding of Italian.

Oh, that’s quite a lot of language knowledge! Chapeau! 🙂

You have a lovely blog. I just started my blog months ago, and you’re right.. why does one start a blog? its for a possibility of self-expression, to share and interact with others.

The music Paula is fantastic! As for sounds…I “see” better with them, they begin as distractions and then paint pictures… I look forward to responding to today’s challenge.

It’s great that you have found a way to share your thoughts and ideas with others, and that you enjoy meeting new people and finding common ground. Your love of languages, music, and images is certainly unique and adds depth to your blog.
