Old About me page

cropped-cropped-eyes_triste.jpg

Why does one start a blog?

For me it is a possibility of self-expression, to share and interact with others.

About me?

It is impossible to sum up one’s life (and thus mine too) in a few sentences ….and as I am still a work in progress this blog will hopefully help me sort out my thoughts and ideas and bring out the inner workings of my mind. The posts here are not very organised nor do they stick to a specific subject or idea. They come randomly following momentary inspiration.

What is the one thing that keeps me going?

Curiosity about how it will all end, a disgust for giving up on life.

What makes me tick?

Learning, meeting new folks, finding out that we are not alone. Well, maybe there are still things I am about to discover …. each day is a new possibility.

What are my interests and specialties?

Languages and music, sounds in general, the fact is that sounds are very distracting to me.

Images (either still or moving) – images evoke feelings, memories and incite imagination. Today’s technology makes it simple for us to take pictures, to grab images and store them for later enjoyment and remembering.

A life traveler, a soul explorer, a thinker and a linguist with a lot to learn still I will be happy to meet anyone with a kind heart and an open mind.

UPDATE: My about page was written in 2012 when I started my blog. Since then I changed several themes, and improved my photography, but I remained faithful to my original message which is the idea of interacting with genuine and kind-hearted people. For years now I have been running several  photo challenges and expressing my ideas through images which are all taken by me with accompanying music mostly found on you tube.

        • You too Anne. I admire your sense of balance 🙂 I am too much of a hedonist to achieve that any time soon and I should. I’ve checked out that three greens smoothie you are featuring. I tried something like that a few years ago. These days I prefer bacon and eggs 😀 Well, next week I will live more like you I promise 🙂

I am doing fine, but I am a bit depressed mainly because I did not sleep so well and well the usual.
I had to write something, post anything maybe proof-of-existence for myself. 😉

Nobody can make me comment on someone’s page if I hate it. Well, sometimes I do leave pity comments on some blogs, when I see that nobody gives them a flying fu*k…. It just breaks my heart.

You are not she, but if I wouldn’t be born in Germany, I don’t want to learn the German language! 😉
Thank you for your friendly answers. Till then… 🙂

            • You are a good neighbour :). I said it is a shame as I am a translator and speak and use 5 other languages, but I have to be honest in saying that German never appealed to me, but whenever I am in Austria I feel that I should learn at the least the basics. They are such friendly people.

              Like

              • The neighbour pays for the language lessons ;), so it was a good deal to me (I had no job till June 2013) and there were no jobless gratifications.
You are a translator? What languages do you use?
Germans and Austrians in common don’t like each other so much, but I know Austrians, which are my friends. For me, it isn’t the birth place of a person, it is his or her personality, I like or don’t like.

                Like

                • Of course any kind of generalisation is a dangerous thing, but in general Austrians are very hospitable and open people :). I studied English and French and I work with those two languages – well mostly doing English-Croatian-English translations and when opportunity arises French too. I am more into Romance languages, they are easier for me. As for Germanic I wish I could learn some Danish – as I’ve heard and experienced the most difficult one of all and am studying Japanese now. I can use and speak Spanish and Portuguese and have a pretty good understanding of Italian.

  45. You have a lovely blog. I just started my blog months ago, and you’re right.. why does one start a blog? its for a possibility of self-expression, to share and interact with others.

  47. What a wonderful blog you have. I’m so happy to have found you, quite by accident while checking out an Urban Art entry. Beautiful photos and I look forward to exploring much more of your site. Cheers and warmest wishes from an ordinary woman in Melbourne trying to live an extraordinary life through travel, photography and a general love of life.

    • I appreciate it Tobias, and I am very flattered that you were the first to notice the change. I have always loved this theme, but chose others for the communication and interaction purposes. However, the time has come when I decided that my life of photography comes first and interaction with strangers second 😉 Thank you 🙂

  50. The music Paula is fantastic! As for sounds…I “see” better with them, they begin as distractions and then paint pictures… I look forward to responding to today’s challenge.

  51. It seems like you have a lot of interests and are passionate about learning and self-expression through your blog. It’s great that you have found a way to share your thoughts and ideas with others, and that you enjoy meeting new people and finding common ground. Your love of languages, music, and images is certainly unique and adds depth to your blog. It’s also admirable that you have a positive attitude towards life and a desire to keep learning and growing. Keep sharing your passions and experiences with the world!
