Ancient to Modern
During my July holiday I had a wonderful opportunity to visit the splendid town of Vicenza in northern Italy whose beauty and elegant charm have left me marvelled.
The first night offered a quieter and less crowded edition of the place as many cafes and restaurants are closed on Mondays. I went for a stroll within the Basilica’s arcades and took a glimpse of modern shops at the piazza looking through one of famous Palladian windows. At the edges of the window you can see some modern installations for sunshades that would be open and ready again for Tuesday crowds.
Ancient to modern… the old world adjusted to our “modern” needs. Is it always a good idea??

Italy has that magical blend of ancient and modern that can only make us fall in love. Modern style, ancient architecture, a cuisine that is both!

Really don’t know which are worst case – old world adjusted to “modern” needs or modern world adjusted to the old world – both can maybe be a bad idea… 🙂 😉
Really like your shot – maybe the title is “A look into the future” – probably better look that way than the other way… 🙂 😉

Nice scenery. I’m alone at the office now, so for once I got to listen to the music. Absolutely beautiful music! Reminds me a bit of Clint Mansell’s ‘Lux Aeterna’ (which is also a wonderful piece of music) .

Love the framing and the golden lighting on the foreground archway. I’ll have to give the local planners credit for incorporating the modern stores into the existing historic buildings. All too often these beautiful older buildings are torn down so some glass and metal eye-sore can be erected in its place.
