Mieux vaut être haï pour ce que l’on est, qu’aimé pour ce que l’on n’est pas.

Agreed. And the best but hardest part? Being loved for what we are… 😉
Hai raggione come sempre 🙂 It’s not easy it seems in my case 😀
Yes. At least this way you know that you are presenting the true version of yourself.
I always am 🙂 and I don’t mind being hated for it :D. Thank you, Colline 🙂
Shows you are comfortable with who you are Paula 🙂
😀 I hope so Colline.
I’m writing a short story for TS. I thought of you 🙂
Are you going to post it? I would love to read it.
It is probably not good :D, but the photo is interesting. Anyway I have been reluctant to write ever since highschool, always thinking why would anybody be interested in what I have to say with all the great classics waiting to be read… Yes, I will post it cause it actually means something to me. It is short and will not be time-consuming for potential readers. Now, I am trying to make a poem for another post and it is hell 😀 I am having a couple of weeks where I need to be creative to ward off negative thoughts 😉
I have found, in general, people are positive when you write something of your own. I think your readers would be too as I have not noticed negative comments on your blog.
And the great thing about writing now is that there is no teacher to tell you it is wrong 🙂
You have been on an animal path lately (I’m using a very limited form of “lately” – referring to today and yesterday) and we’ve seen a lot of cow and a dash of goat. When it comes to goat/sheep, I’ll openly admit (and I’m not afraid to do so either) that I’m a huge fan of lamb shanks, slowly braised in red wine & tomatoes.
There! I’ve said it. It was good to get it off my chest.
😆 and I can happily see them grazing in the pastures 😀
One with the shanks missing, the other with no tail. Leaving a trail of blood on their way through the green pastures.
😆 thank you for these laughs, Max 🙂
On one of the comming b&w weekends I will post a lot of lamb shanks for you 😀
I don’t mind that they eat your handbag or whatever else they can find. This one has a cute face 🙂
The lamb shank leads me to a moralistic tale. While looking at quite an extensive menu and trying to decide, the waiter appeared at my elbow to recommend the “tapas of the day”. I should have been wary because it had no price beside it, but imagining succulent chunks of lamb in a rich sauce, I followed his recommendation. My face must have been a picture when the dish was presented to me! It was quite beautiful (sorry, no photo- too gob-smacked!) with lovely roasties and tiny roast tomatoes, but the lamb shank was huge, all bone and not at all to my taste. Worse, the price 16.75 euros 😦
is that too much? I used to pay for a simple pizza 15 euros. I think it is quite reasonable???
Very true Paula! Furthermore, since this implies honesty the world be better off!
interesting way to present a statement…great photo
Thank you very much for sharing your opinion Eddie 🙂 This little goat was shot in a park on Corsica. The light was dying out and they were about to close but I could not be chased out. I feel more myself when I am surrounded by animals 🙂
Great “a word of wisdom” post, Paula! I don’t mind being hated for what you are either 🙂 Politicians are different animals though 😡
Those animals I would never pat, or I would with an axe 😉
I’d help ya 🙂
😀 I did not know you had it in you, Amy 😆
I didn’t either… :lol
What a great quote to read today Paula and I love the goat. 🙂
She is a sweetie though she makes faces :D. I wish I could keep goats, and milk them and even clean after them. Such independent spirited animals….
Their great faces are half the fun. 🙂
🙂 Do you keep any animals?
We have a fish tank but that doesn’t really count. 🙂 I love animals though and we have been talking about getting a dog of our own soon. For now I have to be content with dog-sitting my brothers sweet black lab, Heidi. She is here today sitting by my feet. 🙂
Labs are beautiful 🙂 You are lucky to be enjoying Heidi’s company 🙂
Yes, we feel lucky that he shares her with us! Do you have animals?
No, I am not capable of taking care of any, not even lady bugs :D. (kidding) we have a small place and not enough time. I have a huge plush variety though 😀
Plush is always fun and always easy to care for. 🙂
and very easy to photograph too 😉
Ha That’s great! 🙂
🙂 Cheers, Phil 🙂 🙂
Profoundly true statement . Also there are few with dualism personality.Super post.Jalal
😀 dualism personality, or just plain hypocrites?
A very true quote, Paula. That goat has a cute face.
🙂 I could just kiss-smack that face 😀
. . . I am so there . . .
😆 That’s good to know. And I appreciate your visit disperser 🙂
How true those words are. That’s a very nice portrait, Paula. Great capture!
Yeah, they are true 🙂 pretence is the worst form of living, I am glad you like the photo… It lacks in technical perfection, but makes up in the expression 😉 Thank you, Uday 🙂
And I know you brave lady, live by those words. Fabulous choice of photo and music to match.:-D
Maybe I am brave, maybe just plain stupid – sometimes there is a thin line, one thing is certain – I am not prudent 😀
Être capable de se voir dans le miroir le matin – sans refermer les yeux – il vaut de l’or… 🙂
Exactement!!! Merci mon Drake 🙂
This really hit the spot! I’m bookmarking this quote. Thanks.
Thank you, Kassidee 🙂
What a tragically true statement 😦
Thank you 🙂 She is a beauty 🙂 (a Corsican one)
So true! Love the pic, put a smile on my face before I head for the mountains in a little bit. 😀
Lucky you 🙂 Try not to shoot anything .. ooops shoot as much as you can but with your cam only 😉
Thanks, and done! One of the pics from my recent mountain adventure is in this weeks Challenge post.
Just discovering your site. You have some great animal shots. This is wonderfully spontaneous.
Thank you very much Alex. Unfortunately, I am not that much in the company of animals, but I promise you that my photographic work burst of variety 😀 I will pay you a visit later 🙂
I would suggest that, on some level, everyone feels a slight bit of guilt when they read this.
You know, just about everyone I know has told me that they admire my ability to be myself in any situation.
But we all hide something about ourselves don’t we? We all have that portrait hidden in the attic where nobody will see it.
Of course, it bothers me that this saying bothers me. But I’m consoled by my suspicion that Andre Gide was going for sounding deep, with this one, rather than looking deep within.
But beyond my introspections, I wonder did Gide believe that it would be better for us personally? Or perhaps for the lovers and haters of us?
What about the powerful world leader who inspires with his charisma, but fights his depression when alone; the family man who keeps his family together and safe by keeping buried his aging lie; the friend who is a constant support and encouragement for those around him, but battles his addictions at home; the person who once had a thought that was so dark that he would be locked away for thinking it… and he must live quietly with himself, knowing he enjoyed thinking it?
If the truth of us were completely exposed, God save us.
