Thursday’s Special: The Wings of Love
Kate Croy is a poor girl who wants to marry a poor boy. Her aunt wants her to marry a Lord. To get her way, Kate needs money. She meets a rich American orphan named Milly Theale, who has a fatal disease, and has come to Europe to live before she dies. Milly likes Kate’s poor boy, whose name is Merton Densher. Slowly, subtly, revealing her hand one card at a time, Kate unfolds a scheme in which Merton will marry Milly, Milly will die, and Merton will inherit her money and be able to marry Kate.
Do things go according to plan? Find out in Henry James’ classic The Wings of the Dove…
Kate: “Give me your word of honour that you are not in love with her memory.”
Milly: “Do I look like I can climb a church scaffold?”
**About Thursday’s Special: It is a ‘non-challenge’ challenge that appeals to bloggers eager to wake up their creativity and show their own ideas and interpretation of the world. I invite everybody interested to join in. There are no themes, titles and techniques set for your expression, there are no limits and restrictions (no red tape whatsoever). The only thing required is to post a photo post on Thursdays entitled “Thursday’s Special: (your theme/title)” (as explained in my Thursday’s Special introductory post), to provide a link to my Thursday’s Special post, and to leave a link to your post in the comments section of my post. If you like Thursday’s Special widget, feel free to grab it and post it on your blog.

I am honoured to present links to other entries to Thursday’s Special:

I LOVE the music you have shared with us today Paula. I think it suits the drama that would unfold in James’ novel.

Thank you, Colline 🙂 This one is not from the film score, but my selection. It is “Love is a mystery” by Ludovico Einaudi 🙂

Because I enjoyed your music so much, I had to share this with you after my daughter showed me. I hope you enjoy the version played by the violinist: http://collinesblog.wordpress.com/2014/03/06/viva-la-vida/

Lovely music. My favourite of his is The Bostonians. I think it’s the greatest character study in literature. Can you play any instruments?

Just the melodica :D. How about you? I am planning to read the Bostonians some day 🙂

Paula, once more I am fascinated by your selection and enamored of they way you pair your dolls with the passages. That’s a very creative approach. When you were a child, I bet your dolls had incredible fantasy lives!
Here’s mine for this week.

Dear Paula,
thank you very much for sharing 🙂
May I ask you a question, please? A couple of days ago I was interviewed by one of the big German radio stations about the colour yellow. I have got this interview in mp3. Dina, our Bookfayries and me want to go on publishing posts about the symbolism of colours. My question is: How to integrate a mp3-file into a WP blog?
We wish you a happy weekend 🙂
