As the night falls and the hazy daylight gives way to dusky skies, human figures become less conspicuous. That’s when I rush into streets resolved to carry out my plan…
Bratislava by night

Hi Lisa 🙂 The day was pretty dull, so I decided to take a shot of Bratislava at night.. to make use of those lamps above the bridge. It is frustrating to take pics when travelling – can’t pick the weather
🙂 The reflections from the bridge are really intriguing 🙂 I think this view was my favourite from my whole trip to Slovakia. Are you packing for your trip to Italy yet?
Yes we have things thrown in a pile Paula. We are hosting an engagement party for my daughter and fiancé this weekend so it’s all a bit crazy. We will get on the plane though. 🙂
I am happy to hear that, Max 🙂 I like the velvety sky and the reflections and little stars of course :D, and I loved the night breeze by the Danube too.
What caught my attention, apart from the totally different palette of the night, was the sharpness of the star effect around the lights on the bridge, in the top right hand corner. Again an inspiration. I’ve done very little night photography, partly because I live in a pretty lightless village, partly because I fall into bed disgustingly early, and partly because I don’t know how! Thank you again: I’ll seek out opportunities – I have just thought of a few possibilities.
My night photo will take time. It requires an evening at the movies in Narooma, and I rarely go out at night. My night vision is bad and the road from the highway to my place is kangaroo-and-wallaby alley.
Day vision fine (thank you, spectacles) but at night I see hills that aren’t and non-existent creatures by the roadside. And thank you too for your concern.
Paula, I love the evocative phrasing you’ve used when you say you rush into streets resolved to carry out your plan – it really builds a sense of anticipation! And your photo is superb – the liquidness of the blues and the warmth of the golden lamps.
You’re welcome, Paula, and thank you for continuing to host your Thursday challenge – even if I don’t always play exactly on a Thursday. And thanks for your get-well empathy. Best, Babsje
Well, that’s exactly what I has been thinking to add to my life recently. It is easy to lose quality on WordPress – not talking about quality of posting but in communication with others. Are you in Holland now?
Paula, the sky looks as liquid as the water! Well done!
