Thursday’s Special: Urban Art

You don’t have to wait in lines or purchase tickets to see it. It is out there open to everybody and free and it changes the character of a town or at least some parts of it. It is called urban art and I love it.

    1. Yes, that’s very clever to use the roof to create a hat illusion :). Thank you, Debbie. I’m glad you like it. It is just down the street from me.

You’ve given me another theme to pursue when I go urban on Sunday! I love the way this one completely takes over its base building. And you have an owl too! I seem to remember you have an affinity with owls.

    1. I thought you were going tomorrow. Thank you for remembering, Meg. Owl is my totem animal. This is a gorgeous piece of street art in my neighbourhood.

  5. I especially appreciate that this artist chose to leave a few of the bricks exposed. Nice contrast!

    1. I love that detail too. The brick was already exposed this way, but I am very glad he did not spray over it 🙂

    1. I wish we had more of those. Unfortunately the most graffiti still consist in meaningless and ugly scribbling on historic buildings, but when it is done on sheds or ugly walls by real street artists it is such a joy to watch. Then I feel like there are other people that love this town as much as I do 🙂

  9. You are a clever minx! Have you superimposed your face on this wall or is it my imagination working overtime? Like it, whichever way and those Sheffield lads are cool too. http://restlessjo.me/2016/03/10/drama-on-the-streets/

    1. 😆 No, no, no, it is not my face – it’s your imagination. This is pure unaltered art.

      1. No, you’re right there. Such art would cause much humphing and huffing, but we do have these ‘donuts’ about the place (one ‘made’ earlier for Jude’s bench series): http://tishfarrell.com/2015/11/01/bench-with-a-mission/

  20. I’m going to really enjoy looking at the entries. We don’t really have much in the way of urban art because we aren’t urban. We aren’t even suburban. We are barely exurban. But I’m sure there’s something in a file that will suit 🙂 I love how urban art has transformed from graffiti to real art. Some of the work I’ve seen is absolutely stunning.
