Every Sunday I publish a photo challenge in black and white with a different theme. This week the theme “renewal” came from my guest that contributed with a very generous and beautifully illustrated post.ย Please read Michelle’s renewalย and join us for this challenge.

such a beautiful image, Paula. And the perfect song to go with it ๐
I’m off to bed – I’m going on a dawn photo shoot tomorrow – perhaps I’ll come back with a renewal shot!

Oh… I love that song, Nina Simone has one of the best voices I know. Great choice for this post, and so is the picture.

I spend much of the year bud-watching, so this gave me much pleasure.

There’s a fascinating paradox here, Paula. You captured the bud in such fine and close-up detail that it takes it from the ordinary to the extraordinary. And so as well as wonder, it also suggests to me the mysteriousness of creativity and renewal. And Nina Simone too. What a woman she was. As a teenager, I saw her live in her latter years, in the very low-key, intimate setting of our Music Hall in Shrewsbury. What a privilege, eh.

You know how to read my photos ๐ I am very grateful for that Tish. Yes, it was an unmatchable privilege to listen to Nina Simone alive especially in an intimate setting. Thank you for sharing ๐ ๐

I’m fascinated by the word ‘renewal’, and when it deals with trees, flowers and buds I can’t resist photographing everything at my reach…
But I’ve never had such a result , believe me!
