Thursday’s Special: Descent

First of all let me congratulate the winner of the last poll organized for Thursday’s Special photo challenge contest. Tobias M. Schiel with his innovative approach to the theme won most votes. Today the theme for Thursday’s Special photo challenge is Descent. If you want to participate in this challenge make sure to leave me your links (and link here) by 5th of July. On the 6th I am taking a holiday, and will be back with a new Thursday’s Special on the 28th July. The last two TS challenges will remain free of polls due to the lack of time, but all will be resumed after my break. That said, Black&White Sunday challenge is still scheduled for Sunday, 3rd of July. On Scheduled challenges page you may find more about future events and challenges. Wishes for a happy and peaceful Thursday to all!

    • Now that I look at it, I remember how suffocating it was to hop on hot stones and cliffs at humid 40 Celsius, but it was worth it.

  4. First of all, thank you all for kindly voting for my picture – I would not have bet on that result, much less dreamt of it…
Second, I’d like to add that I – like so many other visitors here – really am enjoying your sunset picture, Paula. Grogeous. And the new layout was a good idea. I think that in a photography blog, you really want to present your works as large as the layout grid (or “theme”, as they call it) allows – and this theme allows a lot.
Last, not least: happy holidays! From all I understand, you deserve them.
    Cheers.

    • Thank you, Tish. I am so proud of Croatian sunset that for once I uploaded a larger file, but yes this new theme does everything I want of blog. I like neat and minimalist and a decent resolution for images. I am so pleased you noticed it 🙂 Thank you.

  9. My email is really getting away from me. I just found this post buried in all my other notifications. I love your sunset. It’s perfect. I’ll have to see what I’ve got that doesn’t look like I’m copying you 🙂 Even though you are so worth copying.

  14. I like your sunset too – very striking, but I must be on my own here in saying that I am not so keen on the new theme. I have always found websites with black backgrounds and white or grey typeface difficult to read and I do find the font size on here very small. (Actually a lot of the WP themes have very small fonts). When I was involved in web design, black with white text was to be avoided but I can see that the black may set off your photos well, Anyway I am obviously the odd one out here as I see from other comments that people like the effect. Enjoy your well-deserved rest Paula and see you at the end of the month 🙂

    • Thank you, Mark. We are going to the mountains (Alps), a challenge for my knee but I love heights. Hope you are well Mark. It’s always nice to see you.

  18. I thought I’d already commented on this, but no. Busy days.
Anyway, lovely photo as usual. The sad thing about sunsets is that they don’t last longer.
