BLACK & WHITE SUNDAY: AFTER AND BEFORE Y2-01

I almost let March go by without Black & White Sunday, and with a shorter weekend I only managed to post it today. Here’s a challenge which invites you to post the same image in colour and black and white. I call it “After and Before” and it is a recurrent event, the first one this year.

Above you can see a wonderful piece of street art from my neighbourhood. I liked it so much that I wanted to see what it would look like in monochrome.

Now, if you would like to participate in this challenge, all you have to do is to show the same image both in colour and black and white. You can do any theme or subject that you like. Please, take your time and have fun.  Wishing you all a great week!

  2. Although the colours of the mural are striking – the texture is much more evident in the monochrome version. I like them both.

  4. So pleased to have this theme reappear Paula – I always enjoy it.
And, as ever, it is very difficult to choose. I can see that Artez loves to use colour and you’ve combined it so well with the little windows, but I think the black & white wins for me.

  7. I think I like the coloured one better simply because they are so unusual. I’m not sure the texture was what the artist had in mind, though it’s certainly hard to argue with your interpretation! You also do such a fine job in showing both versions.

  17. The mood changes so much when your color shot is converted to B&W. It seems to take on a more melancholy tone. Lovely. https://3rsofretirement.com/2018/03/28/black-white-sunday-after-and-before-4/

  19. Your wall mural is absolutely stunning Paula. I keep coming back to look at it. I love the colours, the women’s expression and how the bricks stand out within the painting of them. Beautiful. Here’s mine this week. https://dailymusing57.com/2018/03/29/black-white-sunday-after-and-before-2/

  22. really nice mural. normally, just like flowers, I would tend to like it in colour more. but this one is so amazing in B&W. I think the texture of bricks has something to do with it.

  24. Much as I like all the colours Paula, she is beautiful and full of character in black and white, the artist has chosen well. Which do you prefer?
