Thursday’s Special: Twilight

Today’s theme is pretty clear though the light in the image is dim. This twilight, half-obscure shot was taken one October above Florence.  These days too as we approach the winter solstice, the half-lit sky is the only sky I see coming home from work.

Black & White Sunday: Size

Are you impressed by size?

Size is a feature we are rarely indifferent to. We tend to ignore small people and things and gaze wide-eyed at the giants of this world.

Here is an example for you to muse on: Michelangelo’s David (in this case a replica) with unusually emphasized parts of his body and others that are disturbingly neglected.

There you have a theme that is fairly easy to interpret in a photograph. Show me what you’ve got in terms of sizes. You have time until next Saturday.

My blogger friends say that size matters. Here is what they came up with:

Intricate design of the Duomo

The largest brick dome ever constructed can be found on the famous Florence cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore and is a work of the 14th century Florentine architect Filippo Brunelleschi.

The intricate frescoes that ornate its interior were painted by Giorgio Vasari and Frederico Zuccari between 1572 and 1579.

Intricate is today’s photo challenge theme.
