“Foreign.Β While foreign (rightly so) often brings up images of things outside of your own nation, it can also apply to things outside of or different from your normal environment, or even something which is out of place in general.“ (Sara Rosso)
When I saw this beautiful statue in a cafe bar in Zagreb, I thought it was completely out of place.
You know that I only saw it by accident that day… I had to make my way through the ugly parasols to take a pic of it… I decided not to close them. The bar was closed and I could very well do that … but decided to leave them to show the world how not to treat the works of art…
My point was that it was worthy of a better place and not that it is an eye sore in a some isolated cafe bar as one of my followers claims…. π Thank you very much Dilip. I share your opinion.
No, but the sculpture was in a cafe close to the Academy of Arts and it is most probably the work of a student, but when was it made and by whom exactly remains a mystery… I would love to know though π
Nice take on the theme Paula π

I agree with Madhu! Great image, and yes, she doesn’t belong in that setting! z

Thank you so much Z :). What really caught my eye here was exactly the place where she was stuck π

It certainly does look very out of place stuck in the corner of some outdoor cafe.

Makes me wonder how such a lovely statue ended up stuck in such an out of the way place where so few can enjoy her.

She was probably abducted by some admirer, and hidden from the world… He just likes to show her off with his few drinking buddies π

This lady should sit in a quiet corner of a park, where people can admire her beauty in all peace. A foreign place indeed, Paula.

If this beautiful sculpture sit in a quiet corner of a park, so all your ****** pigeons would disrespect her… π
Some sunshades with more flavor was perhaps a solution – these are spooky… π

Hmmm, these shades are beer flavour… which one would you fancy? π

I didn’t think that I really like merchandise sunshades at all… π

I hate them, the same as I hate the setting for this wonderful statue….

Agree the setting could have been better
but it would be a little better without these ugly sunshades… ;-/

While I agree with our readers it does seem out of place – I find the beauty of the statue has an all-surpassing power!
