I am sure that most of you have recognised Stonehenge, the best known prehistoric monument in Europe.
I was there just 10 days ago, but it already seems ages ago. If you want to learn more about this fascinating and mysterious sight, there are some great documentaries on you tube.     Such a neat place to visit. I think it’s fascinating. Maybe I’ll get there one day to see it in person. I’m sure it will be completely different in person!     Wonderful, Paula! Were you able to have a quiet moment there with the stones? I would love to see them one day but am afraid crowds would spoil my preconceived ideas about what it must be like.

      The area is fenced, and we were taken there in special buses. You can’t have a quiet moment there as there are always visitors around, but it did not matter. I am so happy I got to see it 🙂

      Thank you 🙂 That was not really the problem. The area is fenced, and you can only approach them to about 5 m distance. There is no boulder hugging, crawling or jumping 😀

    They are awesome. I’ve seen a few stones like this in France – there is one near my home. What amazes me every time is that the people that built these were intellectually, culturally and technically quite sophisticated which is at odds with my vision of these people being simple and rough. How many monuments have we built today that will still be here in 5000 years time? I can’t think of any…

      🙂 It’s hard to say. I liked being at Stonehenge best, but I also liked walking the streets of Windsor and what rated highest in the list of impressions was hanging out with ducks, geese, squirrels and other creatures in St James’ Park :D. Btw, they send their regards to you 😉

    where commenting is concerned I still have my ‘L’ plates;
    I saw Stonehenge once in real life, and do remember having eyes and mouth as round as buttons with surprize at the sheer size of it; and I realised that the photo’s and tv images I’d seen previously, never coveyed either the size nor the feel 🙂
