The Ugly Truth

It’s time to share my ugly secret…

The accident happened weeks ago. I am not sure how, but he stumbled and took a blow to his head. Still, he seemed fine and life went on as usual. There were no complaints and no signs of change.

A couple of weeks later I woke up to a disturbing sight: two of his limbs shrivelled, and his torso a shade of brown. Something was telling me he was on a path of no return.

Another week went by and two more limbs stared at me crippled and rotten.

Finally, the day came when his once sound and shiny head got covered in mildew, his once vibrant limbs were formed in an unidentifiable mess and spikes charred beyond recognition.

After all the love and care that I have given him, I whispered to myself, this is the thanks I get.

I know that I probably should have kept this one for myself…

    My Sunday morning chuckle. Oh, wait, maybe I should send condolences…. So sorry about your dear plant. I guess it’s just something I’m so used to since I’ve even gone so far as to kill a silk plant. sigh…..

    Sorry Paula, but I had to laugh at your story and your poor plant. I’m hopeless with indoor plants, except for orchids, which don’t need much care. Hope that you’ve recovered well from the shock by now. 🙂

      It’s OK Sylvia. The story was meant to be taken light-heartedly. I held a funeral for him today just after taking the last forensic photos. I can kill them all. This was a cactus, and orchids you say are not demanding – hmmm I would have to disagree 😀

    Don’t you find it hilarious that with the topic “Locked and Sealed,” that the Daily Post site seems to be locked and sealed to our posts?

    I just finished cleaning up a huge cactus of the same variety as yours that had been home to a golden orb spider for the past few months. She has vanished and so I’ve cleaned several month’s accumulation of web and dried leaves that have been entangled in this cactus. RIP to the spider and your cactus friend. Judy

    very good! I struggle with anything that grows in the house. In the summer I shove them all out in the garden and they thrive, then I bring them in for their winter misery.
